2026 Kumeyaay Scholars Celebration @ San Pasqual

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Kumeyaay Community College (KCC) hosted the 2026 Kumeyaay Scholars Celebration, an event honoring Kumeyaay scholars from across the 12 bands of the Kumeyaay Nation who have achieved post-high school education. Whether earning a college degree, completing a certificate program, or pursuing professional development, each honoree was recognized for reaching a milestone that reflects years of hard work and commitment.

Recognizing Courage and Determination

Native students often face barriers that other students do not, and Kumeyaay scholars who pursue higher education are no exception. KCC created this event to honor the courage, determination, and success of these scholars, celebrating not just their achievements, but the strength it took to get there.

Participants in the celebration received KCC-branded gifts along with a certificate of recognition — a keepsake meant to serve as a lasting reminder of their impact and accomplishments.

A Community That Roots for Its Own

Whether Kumeyaay students pursue their education through programming at KCC or at another institution of higher learning, this event reflects a simple message: the Kumeyaay community sees them, celebrates them, and is always rooting for them.
